R&B icon Ne-Yo is opening up about the professional consequences of his unconventional domestic life. In a candid appearance on the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast this week, the “So Sick” singer revealed that his decision to live openly in a polyamorous relationship with three women has resulted in significant financial losses and canceled business ventures.
Ne-Yo, 46, currently shares a home and a life with three partners—Arielle, Cristina, and Phoenix Feather. While the singer describes their dynamic as a “beautiful family” built on honesty, he admitted to hosts Tish and Brandi Cyrus that corporate partners have been less than receptive.
“There’s deals that I missed out on because they’re like, ‘We don’t know if we can get behind the whole polyamorous [thing],'” the singer explained. He expressed frustration with what he perceives as a double standard in the industry, noting that while he leads with respect and appreciation for his colleagues, his personal choices have led to him being “canceled” by certain brands.
The shift toward polyamory came after Ne-Yo’s highly public divorce from Crystal Renay in 2023. Reflecting on his past mistakes, the father-of-seven vowed never to lie to a woman again. He explained that he gave his current partners the option of non-monogamy from the start, rather than engaging in the dishonesty that plagued his previous marriage.
“I decided I was never going to tell another lie ever again,” he stated. “I went to them and said, ‘In my perfect world, we would all coexist together. But I’m giving you the option.'” According to the singer, all three women chose to stay, creating a household that he insists is centered on community rather than just physical intimacy.
Despite the professional setbacks, Ne-Yo remains defiant. On Mother’s Day, he posted a heartfelt tribute to his three girlfriends, celebrating their three years together. He addressed his critics directly, stating that while most can “only dream of a love like this,” it is his reality.
While the Ne-Yo polyamorous relationship backlash continues to spark debate online, the singer maintains that he is not afraid of the “hard work” required to maintain his household. As he continues to navigate a career in 2026, he remains committed to a lifestyle of radical transparency, regardless of the brand deals he
