NBA YoungBoy is officially a free man again — and he’s back at his Utah mansion, but this time with armed guards patrolling the perimeter.
After nearly a year behind bars on federal gun and prescription drug charges, the Louisiana rapper returned to his Olympus Cove neighborhood in Salt Lake City, bringing with him not just a fresh start but also serious security upgrades.
According to KUTV News, neighbors were quick to notice the increased presence of bodyguards. One local resident, Judy Zone, shared her encounter with two men in bulletproof vests, one of whom was carrying an AK-style rifle.
“It introduces this level of anxiety,” she said. “I was stopped by two guys, all dressed in black.”
Interestingly, Zone also recalled meeting YoungBoy (real name: Kentrell Gaulden) last year and had nothing but kind words about their brief exchange:
“He called me ma’am,” she said. “I told him I’d never listened to his music, and he said, ‘I wouldn’t recommend it.’”
From Prison to Probation
YoungBoy was sentenced to 23 months in December 2024 and had been locked up since April of that year. He was released on March 24, 2025, and spent a short stint in a halfway house before finally heading back home.
Now on five years of probation, the 24-year-old rapper must submit to six monthly drug and alcohol tests, plus undergo mental health and substance abuse evaluations as part of his release conditions.
Though YoungBoy has yet to make a public statement, it’s clear he’s taking extra precautions as he re-enters the spotlight — this time, with a focus on security, sobriety, and hopefully stability.
