NBA YoungBoy Pleads Guilty in Utah Prescription Drug Scandal: Here’s What Went Down

In a dramatic courtroom twist, rap sensation NBA YoungBoy has admitted guilt in a prescription drug fraud case tied to a Utah-based operation. The 25-year-old artist, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, made headlines yet again—this time trading his mic for a legal defense as he faced charges in Logan City, Utah.

Appearing before Judge Spencer Walsh, the Louisiana-born rapper pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree felony identity fraud, two counts of felony forgery, and six counts of misdemeanor unlawful pharmacy conduct. And if that wasn’t enough courtroom drama, he entered a “no contest” plea to several other charges.

Despite the mountain of legal trouble, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the “House Arrest Tingz” hitmaker. Thanks to a plea deal brokered by his attorney Jon Williams, NBA YoungBoy will avoid additional jail time but must fork over a $25,000 fine. He’ll also serve five years of probation following his current 27-month federal sentence.

Judge Walsh, who dismissed the remaining charges, told the rapper he seemed like a “very talented young man” and wished him luck—a courtroom moment that could easily be the opening scene of a legal drama.

The scandal unraveled when investigators found a suspicious prescription under Gaulden’s name with mismatched details, alongside fraudulent prescription bottles. It didn’t help that multiple pharmacists recognized the caller’s voice used to place the orders, which authorities traced back to Gaulden’s circle.

While NBA YoungBoy originally faced 46 state charges, most were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea—a deal that state prosecutor Ronnie Keller described as “just one piece of a much larger puzzle in seeking justice.”

The drama continues for NBA YoungBoy, but with his legal battles piling up, fans and critics alike are watching closely. For now, the rapper has managed to dodge more jail time, but his probation and hefty fine signal a stark reminder: even the biggest stars aren’t above the law.
