In a groundbreaking industry first, the mobile puzzle game Mindset GO! has successfully transitioned from the digital screen to the printed page. Developer Magicave announced an exclusive UK partnership with The Observer, the world’s oldest Sunday newspaper, making Mindset GO! the first video game to secure a dedicated, weekly feature in a major print publication.
A brand-new Mindset GO! puzzle will appear weekly on The Observer’s logic page. The game, created by Magicave Creative Director Ste Curran, is built around Venn diagram logic, requiring players to sort shapes based on shared attributes. The physical version aims to engage the same audience that enjoys other mentally rewarding newspaper games like Wordle, Sudoku, and the classic crossword.
Magicave CEO Harry Holmwood stated that the collaboration is designed to bring the game to “a national weekly audience of smart, casual gamers.” Curran added that Mindset GO! sits in a unique Venn diagram between “casual games and time-killers” and games that “really make you think,” perfectly aligning with the traditional newspaper puzzle market.
The Mindset GO! Observer Print Deal signals a new, powerful trend of cross-media convergence in the puzzle market. By leveraging the trust and weekly reach of a heritage newspaper, the mobile game hopes to accelerate its growth and firmly establish its unique visual logic puzzles into the daily or weekly routine of millions of readers.
