Miley Cyrus is giving fans a glimpse into her highly anticipated 10th studio album, describing it as a deeply personal love story. In a wide-ranging interview for Wonderland Magazine’s summer 2026 issue, which she guest-edited, the 33-year-old singer opened up about the creative process behind her upcoming project. The album also marks her debut with Atlantic Records, following two albums on Columbia.
“This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. They’re always layered,” Cyrus told actress Daryl Hannah, who conducted the interview. The record reflects her relationship with fiancé Liily drummer Maxx Morando, to whom she got engaged in late 2025, but also centers on her journey toward self-love.
“A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records,” she explained. “Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I’ve found for myself. That’s probably been the biggest evolution”.
Cyrus revealed that the writing process felt “organic and really unforced.” She told Wonderland that she began production with a clear vision, knowing it would be 10 songs with a distinct sonic and visual concept. “That gave me a really strong compass without making the process feel forced,” she said.
The singer also teased the visual direction of the new era, sharing that she already knew “the color would be red” and that she would wear a leather hat. She sent Hannah three tracks from the album before the interview, hinting that the project is already taking shape.
In addition to music, Cyrus expressed a genuine desire to return to acting. “I’d genuinely love to do both,” she told Hannah, adding that she has an idea she’d like to explore with the veteran actress. Her dream role? “A punk-rock Juliet. Something fierce and heartbreakingly romantic”.
