Mychelle Johnson, the mother of Miles Bridges’ children, is now facing a misdemeanor assault and battery charge in North Carolina after allegedly throwing water on the NBA star during a heated custody exchange on June 22. The incident reportedly unfolded in full view of their children, with Bridges claiming Johnson “threw water on me in front of the kids and said she’ll do it again if we argued”. The NBA star has stated the episode left him “scared for my kid’s safety”.
Johnson has fired back with her own version of events, filing court docs that claim Bridges attempted to run her over with a golf cart during the same custody exchange, which she says prompted her to throw the water. She has accused Bridges of filing “false, frivolous” motions in an attempt to remove their children from her care and have her arrested. The dueling accounts set the stage for yet another legal battle between the two.
The criminal charge arrives amid an ongoing and increasingly toxic custody war. Earlier this year, Bridges was granted a temporary restraining order against Johnson after alleging she was on a “deliberate campaign of terror”. He claimed she cyberstalked him and showed up to one of his games in an attempt to tamper with his car, allegations Johnson has strongly denied. The court subsequently ordered her to stay away from Bridges.
This latest legal salvo is just one chapter in a long and troubled history between the two. In 2022, Bridges pleaded no contest to a felony charge of injuring a child’s parent after a domestic violence incident involving Johnson, receiving three years of probation and a 30-game NBA suspension. With the next custody hearing approaching, both parties remain locked in a bitter legal struggle that shows no signs of letting up.
