Disney’s live-action adaptations continue to capture the spotlight, and Mena Massoud, star of 2019’s Aladdin, isn’t ruling out a return to Agrabah. While promoting his latest project, Wish You Were Here, Massoud shared his enthusiasm for revisiting the role that introduced him to Disney fans worldwide.

Mena Massoud is “100%” Ready for an Aladdin Sequel

Reflecting on his time as Aladdin in Guy Ritchie’s acclaimed reimagining of the 1992 animated classic, Massoud expressed excitement about the idea of a sequel.

“That was such a fantastic experience,” he said. “I grew up on the animated version, so we could do it. And I’m glad people loved it. It’d be great… Maybe Aladdin and Jasmine are a little older. Maybe they have kids. That was something we actually talked about when they were discussing a sequel. So, it can still happen. We’ll see. I’d love it.”

Massoud’s comments suggest that Disney has already considered expanding the story, potentially exploring Aladdin and Jasmine’s life after their “happily ever after.”

Massoud Stars in Julia Stiles’ Directorial Debut, Wish You Were Here

For now, Massoud has taken on a new kind of role, starring in Wish You Were Here, a romantic drama directed by Julia Stiles. The film follows Charlotte (Isabelle Fuhrman), who forms a deep connection with Adam (Massoud), a talented artist with a terminal illness. Charlotte dedicates herself to making his final days meaningful, creating a heartfelt, tear-jerking journey.

Massoud praised his on-screen chemistry with Fuhrman, saying, “Within a scene or two, I knew it was going to be there. You can always tell when you’re looking someone in the eyes if they’re there with you.”

Stiles’ transition from acting to directing was also highlighted by producer Gabby Kono-Abdy, who described the years-long journey of adapting Renée Carlino’s novel for the big screen. Kono-Abdy called working with Stiles “one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” lauding her ability to bring the heart of the story to life.
