Meghan Markle is preparing for a return to acting. PEOPLE has learned that the Duchess of Sussex has been offered a role in a significant new project based in the United Kingdom, marking her most substantial acting work since leaving the legal drama Suits.
Details of the project remain under wraps. However, sources confirm that the acting opportunity played a key role in shaping the timeline of the family’s planned move back to Britain. The role was first reported by news.com.au royal correspondent Bronte Coy, who told BBC Radio Four’s Today program, “I’m told it’s significant, and she’s very excited about it.”
The family’s move, which brings them back to the UK after six years in California, is described as an “extended” stay rather than a permanent relocation. The couple will retain their home in Montecito, California, while their business ventures, including Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever and the Archewell organization, will continue to operate from the United States.
This new project would represent a significant return to acting for Meghan, who left the profession in 2017 ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry. She was best known for her role as Rachel Zane on the long-running legal drama Suits, a role she held from 2011 until 2018.
