Meek Mill Allegedly Held Hostage by L.A. Crips, Rick Ross Paid $50K for His Release

A resurfaced claim has reignited chatter in the hip-hop world: Meek Mill was allegedly held hostage by members of the Los Angeles Crips and was only released after Rick Ross paid a hefty sum of $50,000.

The allegations come from a previous interview with Luce Cannon, a known gang member, during his appearance on Akademiks’ Off the Record podcast. Cannon, associated with the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, claimed the incident occurred at a nightclub in Los Angeles, sparked by Meek Mill’s “reckless” comments on Twitter.

“We caught him at the club where he was performing,” Cannon explained. “As soon as he walked in, all of his security spun around. I grabbed him like, ‘Bro, what’s up?’ and told him to get on the phone with Ross.”

According to Cannon, the gang demanded Ross pay $50,000 in cash for Meek’s release. When asked what would have happened if Ross hadn’t paid, Cannon unapologetically confirmed:

“Yeah, of course [he would have been in the trunk].”

A “Business Transaction,” Not Extortion

Interestingly, Cannon dismissed claims that the act was extortion. Instead, he framed it as a simple “business transaction” meant to secure funds.

“He didn’t owe no money; we took the money,” Cannon explained. “It’s not extortion. It was just business.”

The Aftermath and Meek’s Connection to Nipsey Hussle

Cannon also suggested that the situation indirectly strengthened Meek’s relationship with Nipsey Hussle, a respected L.A. figure and fellow Rollin’ 60s member.

“That’s why Meek and Nipsey became cool after that situation because they started using the same PR,” he said. “Meek got smart and started hitting Nipsey up.”

Legal Troubles for Luce Cannon and Big U

Fast forward to today, and Cannon is now facing severe legal troubles. Alongside Big U and 17 others, he was arrested as part of a large-scale crackdown on the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips. Charges include murder, human trafficking, and extortion, with Big U accused of killing a rapper in retaliation for a diss track.

Big U, known publicly as a community activist, has denied the accusations, claiming he is being unfairly targeted. “This is the price of being Black and trying to help your community,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Meek Mill and Rick Ross have yet to respond publicly to Cannon’s allegations, despite the interview resurfacing. Whether they choose to address the claims remains to be seen.
