Nigerian singer Mayorkun is sparking conversation after revealing he plans to sign a prenuptial agreement and conduct DNA tests on his future children. In a recent interview, he said he once discussed DNA testing with a woman he was in a serious relationship with, telling her, “I hope you will not take it as maybe I don’t trust. I would just like to have that peace of mind.” He added that the woman was upset by the suggestion and acknowledged, “I don’t think there’s one woman on this earth that will take it nicely.”
The Mayorkun DNA test comments framed his stance as a precaution. He said men are now in “a new time” and need to protect themselves from raising children who are not biologically theirs. Comparing DNA testing to prenuptial agreements, he said, “Bro, if you don’t sign prenup, you go regret am, man.” He added, “This one na new batch of jezebels. So whether you’re doing prenup, do DNA.” Asked whether love could prevent such a situation, he questioned the logic: “You think that person that gave that man a bastard child doesn’t love? It’s too much of a risk, man.”
He admitted that raising the topic with a partner is difficult, calling it “probably the hardest part of the thing,” but maintained it’s necessary. He also suggested a man could secretly conduct the test, saying, “That might be the best thing,” while acknowledging a woman could be upset if she found out. He referenced cases of men discovering years later that children they raised were not biologically theirs, adding, “I’ve seen grown men break down online, bro.”
