Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United journey appears to be nearing its conclusion, with the player’s camp actively engaged in transfer discussions as AC Milan makes a bold bid for the England forward.
The speculation follows Rashford’s recent admission to journalist Henry Winter about his desire for a “new challenge.” Despite being a lifelong United fan and a product of the club’s academy, Rashford seems ready to move on, citing struggles with form and the weight of being United’s talisman.
Italian giants AC Milan have emerged as frontrunners, submitting a loan-to-buy proposal for the 27-year-old. Reports from transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio suggest that Milan’s offer could pave the way for Rashford’s departure. Meanwhile, The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell and James Horncastle confirm that Rashford’s agents have traveled to Italy for negotiations with Milan executives.
Milan faces stiff competition from Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, with Rashford’s representatives set to meet with both clubs to evaluate the best fit for the player’s next chapter. Financial constraints could pose a challenge for Milan, as the club would require United to subsidize Rashford’s reported £325,000-a-week wages to finalize a deal.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Milan’s senior advisor and Rashford’s former United teammate, is reportedly championing the transfer. Should the move materialize, Rashford would join a star-studded Milan attack featuring Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, and Tammy Abraham.
Juventus and Dortmund also remain in the mix, while the door remains slightly ajar for Rashford to stay at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim should no suitable deal come to fruition. Meanwhile, Saudi clubs are lurking as potential suitors, though Rashford is said to prefer staying in Europe’s top leagues.
Elsewhere, United’s pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres has hit a snag, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich entering the fray. Additionally, winger Antony has rejected a move to Olympiacos, holding out for an offer from a more prominent European club.
As Rashford edges closer to a potential exit, his decision could mark the start of a significant reshaping of Manchester United’s attacking lineup.
