A hip-hop night in Florida took a dangerous turn. Lil Tjay has been arrested in connection with the shooting of rapper Offset, landing in Broward County Jail on Monday evening.
The 24-year-old rapper was booked for misdemeanor disorderly conduct-affray, a charge related to fighting in public. He was released on a $500 bond after posing for a mugshot. Police say Tjay was involved in a physical altercation just before the shooting occurred near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Offset, a member of the rap trio Migos, was shot Monday night in the hotel’s valet area. His spokesperson confirmed the rapper was receiving medical care at a local hospital and was listed in stable condition. The spokesperson added that Offset was “fine” but being monitored closely.
Police have confirmed that one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident. That person was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. Two people have been detained as part of the ongoing investigation, according to the Seminole Police Department.
Authorities say the incident unfolded in the valet area of the popular casino and hotel complex. Hotel operations have since returned to normal, and police stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
A second person was detained at the scene alongside Lil Tjay but has not been charged. The investigation remains active as police work to determine exactly how the altercation escalated to gunfire. For now, Lil Tjay faces only the misdemeanor charge, but the case is far from closed.
