Rep. Lauren Boebert is flatly denying claims made against her in a complaint submitted to Congress that she had affairs with current and former staffers and made a hush-money payment. A representative for Boebert said: “Congresswoman Lauren Boebert rejects these allegations as utterly false and there is no truth to them whatsoever. This is nothing more than a politically motivated stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear her, and generate clickbait.”
The complaint was filed earlier this week by David Wheeler, president of American Muckrakers, with the House Committee on Ethics. It alleges that Boebert had sexual relationships with three current and former staffers—former district director Clarice Navarro, current district chief of staff Raven Finegan, and former chief of staff Jeffrey Small—and paid $200,000 as hush money. The filing claims the relationship with Navarro ran from 2021 through January 2025, with encounters in the district office, in a vehicle, and in campaign-paid hotel rooms.
Boebert’s representative dismissed the allegations, saying they come from “an activist who has long recycled sensational claims, including numerous baseless accusations previously fact-checked as false”. Navarro also denied the allegations, calling them “entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous”. The House Ethics Committee has not announced whether it will open an investigation. Wheeler has previously targeted Boebert, including a 2022 website alleging she worked as a paid escort that contained factual errors.
