Days after trying to help someone she considered a friend, she heard Cardi calling her a p***** ass all over the internet. So she went to the studio and put her feelings on wax.
On Gimme Dat, Latto raps: B**** said what? Let us clock it. Really got a Hermes store in my closet. Talking about buying big mama a bag like my n**** ain’t already bought it. It is pointed. It is personal. But Latto says it is not a textbook diss track. She was just rapping about what was going on in her life at the time.
After the song gained attention, Cardi posted an apology on social media. Latto says they have each other’s numbers and have texted before. She was not feeling the way Cardi handled things. A public apology after the fact did not hit the same as a private conversation would have.
