Kodak Black has responded to fans concerned about his drug use, firmly stating that he won’t meet the same fate as DMX—though he wouldn’t be too upset if he did.
During a recent Instagram Live session, a fan compared the Florida rapper’s struggles with substance abuse to those of DMX, who passed away in 2021 after suffering a drug-induced heart attack. Kodak, however, wasn’t having it.
“Man, shut the f**k up. Definitely ain’t going out like DMX,” he said. “He a legend, though. Bch, I’d rather go out like DMX than go out like… [laughs] The fk? Is you dumb? I do be feeling like DMX though a lot of the time.”

Kodak Black’s Troubling Behavior
Fans have been increasingly worried about Kodak’s erratic actions and drug use over the past year.
• November 2024: He admitted to being off the wagon, telling fans at a football game:
“Bch, I ain’t sober. I look sober? I’m never sober, bch. For what? Look at this money. Look at all this cash. Sober for what? I’m too young to die sober.”
Moments later, he hopped over a fence mid-stream.
• Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 2 (November 2024): Kodak joined Kai Cenat’s 30-day Twitch stream, raising serious concerns about his health after appearing incoherent and possibly taking pills on camera.
At one point, he tried to “trickshot” a pill before collapsing to the floor, leaving Cenat visibly concerned.
• April 2024: Kodak previously admitted to being addicted to Percocet, saying he once consumed dozens of pills a day before managing to gain control of his habit. He even regretted glorifying drug use on his hit song “Super Gremlin”, vowing to never perform it again.
Despite past efforts to stay clean, he seemingly relapsed in July 2024, posting a video of himself taking multiple pills and saying: “Finna glitch right quick.”
