Marvel Studios has found its Scott Summers. Heartstopper star Kit Connor has been tapped to play Cyclops in the studio’s upcoming X-Men reboot, joining Sadie Sink, who is already confirmed as Jean Grey. The casting follows extensive auditions over the 4th of July holiday, with director Jake Schreier and Marvel boss Kevin Feige landing on Connor just last week.
Connor is the third actor to play the iconic mutant leader in live-action, following James Marsden and Tye Sheridan. Marsden is set to reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday, but Connor will lead the new Earth-616 X-Men team. Sink made her debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, confirming her involvement in the project.
The casting news comes as Marvel assembles its mutant ensemble. Samara Weaving has also been cast as Emma Frost, with additional roles expected to be announced soon. The studio is expected to reveal more details at the upcoming D23 Expo.
