Kim Zolciak Ordered to Therapy After Losing Custody

The long-standing legal battle between Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kim Zolciak and her ex-husband, Kroy Biermann, has reached a new, dramatic peak. On Friday, April 3, 2026, a Georgia judge issued a high-stakes ruling: Kim Zolciak stripped of custody of the four minor children she shares with the former NFL star.

The court order mandates that for Kim to regain her parental rights, she must complete four mandatory parent therapy sessions. Until these requirements are met, the children Kroy Jr., Kash, and twins Kaia and Kane will remain in the sole temporary custody of Biermann.

The judge’s decision follows a series of troubling allegations filed by Biermann in late March 2026. Kroy requested an immediate change to their joint custody agreement, labeling Kim as “wholly unavailable” to parent. According to court documents, Biermann alleged that Kim:

• Spent five weeks out of the country between February and March.

• Missed several previously court-ordered therapy sessions.

• Saw the children only once during a 30-day period.

• Failed to prevent a dog-biting incident involving one of the children during her limited time with them.

While Kim Zolciak stripped of custody was the headline, the “Tardy for the Party” singer has fired back at the claims. In a statement to TMZ, she called the accusations “completely false” and a “deliberate attempt to defame her character,” explaining that her time abroad was spent working on two separate television projects to provide for her family.

The current ruling isn’t a permanent termination of rights, but rather a strict “pause.” The judge outlined a clear timeline for the 47-year-old reality star. The earliest possible date for a reunion with her children is listed as April 13, 2026, provided she completes the four requisite therapy sessions by that time.

The financial strain on the former couple has also been a major factor in the proceedings. With millions in tax debt and unpaid bills frequently making headlines, the judge has previously ordered both parties to split the costs of psychological evaluations. This latest development adds another layer of pressure to an already crumbling domestic situation.

As the 2026 legal season continues, the focus shifts to whether Kim can successfully navigate the court’s requirements in the coming ten days. Biermann’s legal team continues to push for a permanent sole custody arrangement, citing “instability” and “mismanagement of basic responsibilities” on Kim’s part.

For now, the “Bichota” of Bravo is on the sidelines. Whether this forced therapy leads to a breakthrough in their co-parenting relationship or simply another chapter in their bitter 2023-2026 divorce remains to be seen. One thing is certain: the eyes of the reality TV world will be on the April 13 deadline.
