Hip-hop heavyweight Kendrick Lamar has once again proven his dominance, as his album GNX storms back to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. This marks the third time the project has reclaimed the top position, cementing its status as one of the biggest rap albums of 2025. Despite being released nearly four months ago, GNX continues to dominate, selling an impressive 90,500 equivalent album units this past week—just enough to edge out Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s new joint project, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which landed at No. 2 with 90,000 units.
Kendrick vs. Drake: The Closest Chart Battle Yet
This week’s chart battle was the tightest yet between the two rap icons, with Kendrick outselling Drakeby a razor-thin margin of just 500 units. However, while $ome $exy $ongs 4 U debuted atop the Billboard 200 in February with 246,000 first-week units, GNX initially crushed the competition back in November 2024 with 319,000 units—proving Lamar’s album had the bigger opening and the stronger staying power.

Meanwhile, two more GNX singles, “Not Like Us” and “TV Off”, are locked in the Top 5, with former No. 1 “Squabble Up” still holding strong at No. 10.
