Kelly Clarkson is breaking away from expectations about her love life. During her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, the 44-year-old singer addressed the inevitable question: “People are like, ‘Oh, why are you single?'” Her response? She’s perfectly content.
“First of all, there are a lot of people out here making single look real good,” Clarkson told the crowd on July 24. “And if you didn’t really understand what I meant by that, it’s like you see relationships and you’re like, ‘I am so glad I’m going home alone.’”
She didn’t mince words about what she’s avoiding. “You know what’s not happening in my house? That s–t,” she said. The Grammy winner also reflected on the challenge of sustaining romance, noting that “the hardest part is just keeping that fire alive and still dating, and like still making it feel magical and not monotonous.”
Her rare comments come nearly one year after the death of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, with whom she shares two children.
