Things are heating up on the set of Hello & Paris. Kate Hudson and Javier Bardem were spotted sharing a passionate kiss while filming their upcoming romantic comedy in New York City this week. The chemistry looked effortless as the pair embraced in the middle of a Manhattan street, completely ignoring the traffic building up around them.
Hudson, 47, looked effortlessly stylish in a floral-print dress with a pink shawl draped over her shoulders and white heeled sandals. Bardem, 57, kept it classic in a cream-colored jacket over a white button-down shirt paired with navy pants and brown loafers. The scene, filmed during golden hour, has already sparked comparisons to classic rom-coms like When Harry Met Sally and You’ve Got Mail.
The film, written and directed by Elizabeth Chomko, is loosely inspired by Deborah McKinlay’s novel That Part Was True. The story follows a fiercely independent landscape architect (Hudson) and a crisis-ridden bestselling novelist (Bardem) who have a prickly first encounter in Paris. Despite their rocky start, they gradually develop a sparky transatlantic connection as they exchange books and recipes while living on opposite sides of the Atlantic. The synopsis teases that “the one thing harder than being alone might be choosing not to be”.
The film also features an ensemble cast including Steve Zahn, Gemma Chan, and Phil Dunster, with recent additions Rupert Penry-Jones, Trudie Styler, Amber Valletta, Bella Maclean, Eliot Sumner, and Thaddea Graham.
For Hudson, whose breakout roles in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Bride Wars made her a rom-com icon, Hello & Paris marks a return to the genre she helped define . For Bardem, best known for dramatic roles in No Country for Old Men and Being the Ricardos, the film offers a fresh opportunity to lead a contemporary love story. Producer Patrick Wachsberger described it as “a gorgeous love story, reminiscent of the timeless classics we know and adore, with a fresh twist”.
The production, backed by Fifth Season and produced by Oscar-nominated producer Finola Dwyer (Brooklyn), has already filmed in Whitstable, England, before moving to New York. With filming now in full swing, fans won’t have to wait long to see this transatlantic romance come to the screen.
