Nearly two years after the tragic death of Liam Payne, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy is honoring his memory on what would have been his 33rd birthday with a heartfelt tribute.
On August 29, Cassidy took to Instagram and TikTok to share a series of touching tributes to the late One Direction singer. Alongside a montage of previously unseen photos and videos from their time together, she wrote: “Your birthday will always be your day. Loving you, remembering you, missing you always. Happy birthday Liam.”
The posts captured intimate moments from their two-year relationship: Liam with their rescue dog Nala, date nights, bowling, holidays, and quiet moments at home. One video showed him hiding in a wash basket, while another captured him feeding a giraffe, personal glimpses of his playful personality.
Cassidy also shared a video of herself decorating a birthday cake in his memory, saying: “This would now be year two of Liam not being here to celebrate his birthday physically.”
Reflecting on grief, she added: “Someone once said when a person dies, they die twice, so they die the first time and then the second time when you stop talking about them. I am never going to stop talking about him. He was a huge part of my life and made me grow into the person I am today.”
She also recalled a simple birthday they shared two years ago: “We went bowling, and we had cake in bed. It was just a really simple morning.”
Cassidy has been open about her grief journey since Payne’s death on October 16, 2024, at age 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Earlier this month, she broke down in tears while reading old love letters he had written her, admitting that while they make her sad, they also help her feel close to him.
Last June, she revealed she had been dating again but struggled to move forward, often comparing new partners to Liam, which led to a recent breakup.
Despite her grief, Cassidy has made one thing clear: Liam’s memory will always live on through her. “I will always love Liam, and that will never change no matter who I meet.”
