Nigerian rapper and internet sensation Speed Darlington, real name Darlington Okoye, has been granted bail nearly a month after his arrest by the Nigeria Police Force in Imo State.

The rapper, widely known as “Akpi,” was reportedly detained following a petition filed by Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, who alleged an affiliation between Speed Darlington and embattled US rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

News of Speedy’s arrest was first disclosed by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, who claimed the detention was orchestrated at Burna Boy’s behest. The revelation sparked an outcry across Nigerian social media, with fans and influencers demanding his immediate release.

Renowned lawyer Stan Alieke later confirmed via his Instagram story that Speed Darlington has now been granted bail by the court. While the specifics of the bail conditions were not disclosed, Alieke wrote, “Akpi has been granted bail by the court,” to the relief of Speedy’s supporters.

This marks a turning point in a case that has captivated public attention, leaving fans eager to hear more details about what led to the arrest and how Speed Darlington plans to move forward.
