Could I Know What You Did Last Summer be slashing its way into a new chapter? Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has hinted that the 2025 revival might not be the last time we revisit Southport’s most cursed group of friends.
“I do have a plan in mind of what could be next. I cannot tell you,” Robinson teased in a recent interview with Screen Rant.
While she remained tight-lipped about exact plot details, the 37-year-old filmmaker made it clear that a sequel is definitely on her radar.
Brandy’s Karla Could Make a Bigger Return
One of the biggest surprises in the 2025 slasher was the mid-credits cameo of Brandy Norwood as Karla, her beloved character from 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
Robinson revealed she always intended to include Brandy:
“I wanted Brandy in this film… not just for the character and franchise, but for this version of the movie and the story we were telling.”
She explained that in the current timeline, Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) has become an isolated figure—estranged from friends and living alone—making Karla’s reappearance a fun and meaningful reunion for longtime fans.
Classic Cast, New Terror
The 2025 installment brought back original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt (Julie James) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (Ray Bronson), who now help a new generation of teens survive a familiar nightmare: being hunted by a mysterious, masked killer after a hit-and-run cover-up.
Fans were also treated to a shocking cameo by Sarah Michelle Gellar as Helen Shivers, despite her character’s brutal death in the 1997 original.
Freddie Prinze Jr. on Keeping Gellar’s Cameo a Secret
Freddie, who’s married to Sarah Michelle Gellar in real life, said he was thrilled to be in on the surprise and even happier with the fan response.
“I knew from jump that Sarah would be in the new movie… To hear the reaction that people have had—it’s awesome,” he told PEOPLE.
“Everybody always loves her. To give people another taste of that, I just think was awesome.
What’s Next?
While nothing’s been officially confirmed, Robinson’s hints suggest the story is far from over. With fan-favorite cameos, legacy characters, and a director already thinking ahead, I Know What You Did Last Summer could be gearing up for another blood-soaked chapter.
And if Brandy’s Karla takes center stage in a sequel? That’s one summer secret we’re ready to scream about.
