Jelly Roll is trading the stage for some much-needed rest. The country star announced during his July 28 concert at Salt Lake City’s Rice-Eccles Stadium that he’ll be stepping away from touring for at least a year after wrapping up his current run of shows. “I’m fixing to take some time off and heal,” he told the crowd.
His final scheduled performance was July 30 at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, and his website currently lists no upcoming events. The hiatus comes after a whirlwind few years that saw the 41-year-old co-headline a stadium tour with Post Malone, win multiple Grammy Awards, headline Stagecoach, and get inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. He’s also been on a fitness journey that resulted in a 200-pound weight loss.
The timing also aligns with major personal change. Jelly Roll filed for divorce from his wife of nearly ten years, Bunnie Xo, in May, with the split finalized in July. He addressed the divorce publicly only once, telling a New York crowd in June, “That will be my best friend forever… Thank you for those 10 years”. A sinus infection that sent him to the hospital in June also forced him to cut a show short.
