Jay-Z is firing back at a man who has long claimed to be his biological son, labelling the situation as “decades-long harassment” and demanding a federal judge put an end to it.
The 55-year-old music icon, whose real name is Shawn Carter, addressed the ongoing paternity claims from 32-year-old Rymir Satterthwaite, describing them as baseless and already settled in multiple courtrooms. According to new documents obtained by Us Weekly, Jay-Z is now urging the courts to shut down what he calls a “pattern of fabricated allegations” from Satterthwaite and his godmother.
“The fabricated allegations and claims have been addressed—and rejected—in multiple other courts,” the filing reads. “Continued harassment and disregard of those orders has already resulted in a contempt order.”
Satterthwaite filed a federal lawsuit in May, accusing Jay-Z of trying to silence him regarding the paternity issue. He claims his mother, Wanda, had a brief relationship with the rapper in the 1990s, and after her passing, his godmother stepped in to raise him. He alleges both have faced “unrelenting efforts by (Jay-Z) and his enablers to suppress the truth.”
Despite the rapper’s repeated silence on the matter, Satterthwaite insists he’s not seeking fame or financial gain, only the truth. Speaking to the Daily Mail last year, he said: “Why can’t he prove me wrong? Go to the courtroom and do what everyone else has to do. I can take a no. I just can’t take him not saying anything. It is not fair.”
Meanwhile, Jay-Z is also facing pressure from another direction—this time from fellow rapper Nicki Minaj. The Anaconda hitmaker has taken to social media claiming that Jay-Z owes her between $100 million and $200 million stemming from his sale of TIDAL, the streaming platform he launched in 2015.
Minaj alleges she was promised a three percent equity stake in TIDAL in exchange for exclusive content and promotion. But when Jay-Z sold a majority share to Jack Dorsey’s Square in 2021 for $302 million, she claims she was offered a mere $1 million.
Posting on X, Minaj called for a settlement: “We’ve calculated about 100-200MM so far. #JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It’s only collecting more interest. You still in my TOP 5 tho. Let’s get it n****.”
She later added that she plans to use the money she’s owed to fund her charity initiative: “I’m going to use some of the money #JayZ owes me to send some of my Barbz to college, pay their school fees and student loans via my #StudentOfTheGame charity.”
With both personal and professional disputes heating up, Jay-Z may soon find himself battling on multiple fronts.
