Javier Bardem, the Academy Award-winning actor who portrays Fremen leader Stilgar in the Dunefranchise, revealed that he’s uncertain about his character’s future in Dune: Messiah. Speaking to Variety, Bardem joked that he hasn’t yet seen the script for the upcoming film, which is being written by director Denis Villeneuve. While he knows his character is in the book, he humorously threatened to visit Canada if his role gets cut.

Despite his playful remarks, Bardem expressed his deep admiration for Villeneuve, trusting whatever decision the director makes. He even hinted at one personal request for Dune: Messiah — a bit of sword fighting to impress his son, who pointed out his lack of action scenes in Dune: Part Two.

As Dune: Messiah will likely follow Paul Atreides’ darker journey, Stilgar’s involvement remains a mystery for now. With Bardem’s trust in Villeneuve, fans can only wait and see if the beloved Fremen leader will return for the next chapter. In the meantime, Bardem continues to stay busy with upcoming roles, including starring in an adaptation of Cape Fear and in Joseph Kosinski’s F1.
