Nigerian filmmaker Jade Osiberu is shaking up Nollywood with a bold call to action for 2025. The award-winning creator, known for hits like Isoken and Gangs of Lagos, has asked her colleagues to ditch endless speaking events and focus on strategies that actually push the industry forward.
Osiberu didn’t hold back, pointing out that more profitable industries don’t spend as much time talking. According to her, most Nollywood events recycle the same topics without delivering results. “Let’s do less talking and more problem-solving,” she urged.
In her vision for a better Nollywood, Osiberu highlighted actionable steps. She emphasized the need for advanced training for self-taught professionals already working in the industry. She also called for government-backed grants and incentives to attract foreign investment, noting that countries like South Africa thrive because of filmmaker-friendly policies and well-trained crews.
Osiberu also stressed the importance of raising funds to improve Nollywood’s distribution networks. With better financing, filmmakers could focus on telling more diverse and impactful stories instead of being pressured to chase box office numbers.
As one of the most influential voices in Nollywood, Osiberu’s message is clear: 2025 is the year for the industry to step up, think bigger, and start turning words into meaningful action.
