Franky Venegas, one half of the viral “Island Boys” duo, was arrested in Florida on gun and drug charges following a routine traffic stop, according to authorities.
The 23-year-old rapper, also known as Kodiyakredd, was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, per the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
Venegas was a passenger in a yellow Corvette when the driver, a 25-year-old woman, failed to stop at a stop sign. During the stop, a K-9 unit searched the vehicle, uncovering:
• A Ziploc bag with five Oxycodone pills on the passenger side floorboard
• A handbag containing a handgun (spray-painted blue with no serial number)
• A plastic straw and credit cards in Venegas’ name
Venegas initially denied ownership of the pills, later claiming he had a prescription, but could not provide proof.
Prior Legal Troubles
This isn’t Venegas’ first brush with the law. He was:
• Arrested in May 2023 in Fort Lauderdale for allegedly impersonating his twin brotherduring a reckless driving stop.
• Arrested in Broward County for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, though the charges were later dropped.
Venegas was booked at the Naples Jail Center and released on bond Monday. He is set to appear in court on March 17.
