Veteran Nollywood actress and activist, Hilda Dokubo, has firmly debunked viral death rumors, assuring fans, friends, and family that she is alive, healthy, and stronger than ever. In a recent interview with PUNCH, the outspoken screen legend addressed the false reports that caused panic, especially within her home state, Rivers State.
Social media went wild earlier this week with disturbing claims that Dokubo had passed away following an alleged incident at a political rally — an event she has categorically denied attending. The misinformation didn’t just stir online gossip; it triggered real-life fear, prompting people to rush to her nearly 80-year-old mother’s house, seeking confirmation.
“Everybody, this is me, healthy and strong. I’m not dead. I’m not dying now. I’m not afraid,” Dokubo said, shutting down the fake news in typical fearless fashion.
The Nollywood star expressed frustration over the growing trend of fake death announcements targeting public figures, especially actors. According to Dokubo, this isn’t her first time being “killed” by blogs and rumor peddlers.
“Do you know how many times blogs have written that I died? Every second, every minute, they’re killing one actor or the other. So, it’s not a big deal. But a lot of people have been worried. I also worry for my friends. People had even gone to visit my mum who is almost 80 years old,” she shared.
Despite the unsettling experience, the award-winning actress made it clear that she is unmoved. Dokubo reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for justice, good governance, and the rights of Nigerians, regardless of any attempts to intimidate or silence her.
Fans have since flooded social media with relief, celebrating the actress not just for being alive but for her courage to keep speaking truth to power.
