Nigerian singer and record label boss, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has broken his silence after being cleared of involvement in the death of MohBad.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Naira Marley shared a lengthy emotional post, expressing his pain and frustration over the accusations.
“I Never Thought Silence Could Be So Loud”
In his post, the Marlian Music boss reflected on how he was blamed for MohBad’s passing despite their reconciliation before the singer’s death.
“I never thought someone I called my brother, someone I protected, would leave this world with my name in his shadow. I have carried this weight, this pain, this shame that was never mine to bear.”
“MohBad and I Made Peace”
Naira Marley admitted that mistakes were made in their relationship but insisted that they were business-related, not personal warfare. He revealed that he and MohBad had settled their differences before his passing.
“We, as Marlians, were not perfect. We had to grow, we had to adapt. Mistakes were made, but they were business—never war. I made peace with MohBad. We understood each other beyond the noise, beyond the misunderstandings.”
“You Let Them Tear Me Apart”
The singer blamed those close to MohBad for allowing the public to falsely label him as responsible for the late artist’s death.
“When he took his last breath in your arms, you looked at the world and pointed at me. You let them tear me apart. You let them call me a killer while you sat there, knowing the truth.”
“MohBad Is Still Not Buried – That’s On You”
Naira Marley also criticized those responsible for delaying MohBad’s burial, arguing that the singer should have been laid to rest earlier if the truth had been told sooner.
“My brother is gone, still not buried, and that is your fault. Telling the truth from the beginning would have given him the rest he deserves.”
Mixed Reactions from Fans
Following his statement, fans and social media users have continued to debate his innocence, with some expressing sympathy and others demanding accountability.
MohBad’s tragic passing in September 2023 sparked widespread controversy, leading to multiple investigations, protests, and arrests. With Naira Marley now officially cleared, the spotlight shifts to who should be held responsible for the singer’s untimely death.
