Nigerian influencer and media personality Hamzat Habeeb, better known as Peller, has finally addressed the online backlash surrounding his interaction with Burna Boy’s mother, Bose Ogulu.
A viral video of the encounter made waves on social media, sparking mixed reactions. The clip allegedly shows Peller excitedly greeting Burna Boy’s mother at a fashion show, only for her to ignore him. This led to heated discussions online, with many speculating whether Ogulu’s reaction was intentional or a simple misunderstanding.
Peller’s Defense Falls Flat?
In response to the criticism, Peller attempted to clarify the situation, claiming that his interaction was misinterpreted. He insisted that he did not personally know Ogulu before the event and had no ill intentions. However, his explanation didn’t seem to convince many online, as people continued to debate the incident.
The conversation resurfaced when singer Teni Entertainer brought up the issue during a live session with Peller. While expressing interest in working with Burna Boy, Teni playfully confronted Peller, urging him to properly acknowledge and greet Bose Ogulu if given another chance.
Social Media Reactions
As expected, Nigerians didn’t hold back in the comment section:
• @bigslykitchen_: “You don’t know her but you were excited to see her lol.”
• @son_of_joseph1: “But as a mother, na Burna mama snubbed Peller because Peller greeted her with joy.”
• @zatoplumpsis: “What’s the big deal? He was excited and she didn’t acknowledge him. Life goes on.”
• @francis.sylvester: “Mugu say he didn’t know the woman before but he was excited to see her 😆 🤣.”
• @princeyakubuhussein: “Abeg, make una rest for this matter. Na Mama Burna supposed apologize to this boy. What about the other guys that didn’t bow to greet her?”
Some defended Peller, while others argued that Ogulu’s reaction was justified since Peller appeared to greet her improperly.
Was It a Misunderstanding or Disrespect?
Despite Peller’s attempt to downplay the situation, the debate continues. Some believe Burna Boy’s mother should have acknowledged him, while others insist that Peller should have shown more respect in his greeting.
Either way, this incident has once again proven how celebrity interactions can quickly become trending topics in Nigeria’s social media space.
