Gypsy Rose Blanchard has released a statement apologizing to the Black community after old prison calls recently surfaced on TikTok. The calls were recorded while Gypsy was serving time for her role in the 2015 killing of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Several calls feature Gypsy speaking on different topics with family members and her now ex-husband, Ryan Anderson, who also used the N-word during the conversations.
Gypsy issued a statement, acknowledging the hurt her words have caused. She said that the language used in the calls came from a place of ignorance, and while it doesn’t excuse her behavior, she is committed to doing better and educating herself. She also apologized to her sister Mia and her fiancé, Andre, for remarks she made about their interracial relationship.
The apology comes as the resurfaced clips have sparked widespread criticism online. Many TikTok users had called her out for the language she used, prompting her to directly address the situation
