Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed a significant injury setback for the team ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League clash with Club Brugge and the Premier League match against Arsenal.
Guardiola revealed that winger Jeremy Doku will be unavailable for the Champions League match on Wednesday, and his status for Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Arsenal remains uncertain.
Doku, who missed City’s 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain and their 3-1 victory over Chelsea, was hoped to return for these fixtures. However, Guardiola indicated that the 22-year-old Belgian will be sidelined for an extended period, leaving his availability for the Arsenal match in doubt.
When asked about Doku’s recovery timeline, Guardiola stated, “A while. I don’t know how much. But a while. He will not be ready for Wednesday for sure, I don’t think. For Arsenal, we will see.”
The winger joined Manchester City from Rennes in the summer of 2023 for £55 million, and his absence will be a blow to Guardiola as the team faces crucial matches in both domestic and European competitions.
