GloRilla is showing love to the city that helped raise her. The Memphis-born rapper surprised students and staff at Cordova High School during their homecoming on Friday, and she came ready to give back. According to WREG, GloRilla donated $25,000 to the school, making her homecoming appearance even more meaningful for students who watched her return to where it all started.

The GloRilla donation came after Coach Barnes reached out to invite her to the school’s homecoming. The timing was perfect, the rapper said she had already been looking for an opportunity to give back. “It’s so crazy because I had been looking for a way to give back, and I said, ‘That’s perfect,'” she explained. “And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m going to come, and do y’all need anything?'”

Speaking with WREG’s Alex Coleman, GloRilla said she’s grateful for the blessings in her life and wants to use them to help others. “You know, I’ve been blessed with God. He’s showed his favor over my life, and I feel like I’m in a happy space in my life, and I just want to bless other people,” she shared. She added that giving back is something she hopes to make an annual tradition. “I try to make it my mission to do this every year,” she said. “I missed out last year, but I’m back.”
