The hallways of Godolkin University are going quiet. On Friday, April 24, 2026, Prime Video officially announced that Gen V, the critically acclaimed young-adult spinoff of The Boys, has been canceled after its second season. The Gen V canceled after 2 seasons Prime Video April 2026 announcement comes six months after the Season 2 finale aired in October 2025, leaving fans shocked but not entirely without hope for their favorite “supe” students.

In a joint statement, executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg confirmed the news while emphasizing that the characters’ journeys are far from over:

“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”

The cancellation is largely being viewed as a strategic consolidation of the “Vought Cinematic Universe” (VCU) rather than a lack of performance. Season 2 of Gen V was a major hit for the streamer, raking in 424 million minutes viewed during its premiere week in September 2025 and outperforming the flagship show’s fourth season in audience approval ratings.

While the show was a success, industry insiders point to several factors that made a third season difficult:

• Production Stalls: The tragic death of lead cast member Chance Perdomo in March 2024 led to significant production delays and creative rewrites for Season 2, compressing the show’s planned multi-season arc.

• Cast Availability: Star Asa Germann (Sam Riordan) recently signed on as a series regular for the Paramount+ series Frisco King, signaling to many that the Gen V cast was being released from their long-term contracts.

• The Franchise Finale: With The Boys currently airing its fifth and final season (set to conclude on May 20, 2026), producers reportedly felt it was more impactful to integrate the Gen V survivors into the main battle against Homelander.

Though Gen V has ended as a standalone series, the “meddling kids” are already making their mark. Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan Li, and Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway) have appeared in recent episodes of The Boys Season 5, aligning with Starlight’s resistance.

Fans can also look forward to:

• Vought Rising: A prequel spinoff starring Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy) and Aya Cash (Stormfront), officially confirmed for a 2027 launch.

• The Boys: Mexico: Currently still in active development, though yet to receive a formal series greenlight.

As the flagship series approaches its “definitive, explosive ending” next month, the legacy of Godolkin University will live on through the heroes and villains it helped create.
