Nollywood powerhouse Funke Akindele has made cinematic history with her latest film, Everybody Loves Jennifer. In just one month since its release, the comedy has raked in a jaw-dropping ₦1.6 billion at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film of all time in West Africa.
Filmone, the film’s distributor, confirmed the record-breaking achievement on Instagram, writing:
“A billy gang, we’re up! Everybody Loves Jennifer has grossed over ₦1.6 billion at the box office! We can’t thank you enough for showing this movie all your love!”
Akindele herself took to Instagram to celebrate, expressing her gratitude to fans:
“Na God do am. I am so grateful to you all. I no know wetin I go write again,” she posted on her page @funkejenifaakindele.
Everybody Loves Jennifer hit cinemas on December 13, 2024, and has since captured the hearts of audiences with its humor, cultural relevance, and star-studded cast. The milestone further solidifies Akindele’s position as one of Nollywood’s most successful filmmakers.
