AJ Odudu has shared a powerful story of resilience, revealing how a sudden career setback left her sleeping on her dad’s sofa and working in a call centre, only to make a triumphant return to television years later.

In 2013, Odudu was co-hosting Big Brother’s spin-off show Bit On The Side alongside Rylan Clark and Emma Willis. But when she was unexpectedly axed without any explanation, her life took an unexpected turn. The presenter, who had once seemed to be on top of the world, found herself back at square one, facing the harsh reality of losing her dream job.

Reflecting on that dark time in an interview with Hunger magazine, the 36-year-old revealed how difficult it was to cope with the abrupt change.

“I cried for months. It was a real knock to my ego,”

she confessed. The fallout also impacted her personal life, with her relationship ending shortly after.

Despite feeling crushed, Odudu’s determination never wavered. “I thought that was it for me,” she said, recalling how she feared her TV career was over. But with the support of her family, particularly her mother, who reminded her that there’s “no shame in earning an honest living,” Odudu picked herself up.

Her hard work and perseverance paid off when she was announced as the host of the revived Big Brother in 2023, alongside Will Best. “It’s amazing how that door closed on me and then, ten years later, it’s like I’ve come back to own the whole building,” she said, celebrating her remarkable comeback.

AJ Odudu’s journey serves as a testament to the power of resilience, showing that even in the darkest moments, it’s possible to rise again and shine brighter than ever.
