FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced that the 2026 World Cup final will feature a half-time show for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Infantino made the revelation on Wednesday, confirming that the spectacle will be held in partnership with Global Citizen during the final in New York/New Jersey. The move mirrors the iconic half-time performances at the Super Bowl, adding an entertainment twist to the world’s biggest football event.
He also disclosed that the World Cup will “take over” Times Square during the final and third-place match as part of a larger entertainment package.
The 2026 tournament will be hosted across 16 cities in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, with the half-time show set to create an unforgettable moment in World Cup history.
“This will be a historic moment for the World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world,” Infantino wrote on Instagram.
