The “United by Music” spirit is officially heading East. On March 31, 2026, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) confirmed that the long-awaited Eurovision Song Contest Asia will make its historic debut in Bangkok, Thailand. The Grand Final is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 2026, marking the first major multi-country expansion of the iconic song contest format in its 70-year history.
A New Chapter for a Global Icon
The announcement comes as part of the Eurovision brand’s 70th-anniversary celebrations. This Eurovision Asia 2026 debut details update reveals a partnership between the EBU, Voxovation, S2O Productions, and Thailand’s Channel 3, which will serve as the host broadcaster. The inaugural event will be held at IdeaLive, a state-of-the-art entertainment venue in Bangkok’s BRAVO BKK mall, which features a capacity of over 4,000 seated guests.
10 Nations Confirmed for the Debut
The first edition will feature at least 10 participating countries, each bringing their unique cultural identity and musical storytelling to the stage. The current list of confirmed broadcasters includes:
• Thailand (Channel 3 – Host)
• South Korea (ENA)
• The Philippines (ABS-CBN)
• Vietnam (VTV3)
• Malaysia (Media Prima/TV3)
• Bangladesh (NTV)
• Nepal (Himalaya TV)
• Bhutan (BBS)
• Cambodia (TV5)
• Laos (VTE9)
Organizers expect more countries to join the lineup in the coming months as national selection processes begin across the region.
Format and Judging
True to the original Eurovision format, the Asian edition will feature live performances of original songs under three minutes in length. The winner will be determined by a 50/50 split between professional jury voting and public voting from across the participating nations. Martin Green, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest at the EBU, stated that the goal is to build a platform that reflects the “voices, identities, and ambitions” of Asia while maintaining the high production standards of the European original.
