June 12, 2026, will be remembered as the day the four-comma club gained its first member. Elon Musk officially became the world’s first trillionaire as SpaceX made its public trading debut on the Nasdaq under the ticker SPCX.

The numbers are staggering. SpaceX raised $75 billion in the largest initial public offering in US history, pricing 555.6 million shares at $135 each. The company’s valuation soared to approximately $1.77 trillion, landing it seventh among all US-listed companies, ahead of Tesla, Meta Platforms, and Berkshire Hathaway.

For Musk, who founded SpaceX in 2002 with the wild ambition of making life multiplanetary, the moment caps a 24-year journey from startup to colossus. His personal stake in the company is now worth roughly $866 billion. Add his Tesla holdings, and his total net worth crosses $1.1 trillion.

The gap between Musk and every other billionaire on Earth is now almost impossible to comprehend. Google co-founder Larry Page, the world’s second-richest person, sits at around $310 billion. Musk is more than three times wealthier. Only one other person, Oracle founder Larry Ellison, has ever crossed $400 billion. Musk just blew past a trillion.

The offering shattered Saudi Aramco’s 2019 record of $25.6 billion. For context, the $75 billion raise is roughly the size of Estonia’s entire GDP. About 30% of shares were allocated to retail investors, a rare move that gave everyday people a piece of the action.

SpaceX’s business is no longer just rockets. Starlink, the satellite internet service, now generates the majority of the company’s revenue, connecting customers across 164 countries. The company also merged with Musk’s AI venture xAI in February 2026, making SpaceX a three-headed beast of space, connectivity, and artificial intelligence.

The trillion-dollar valuation comes despite serious financial headwinds. SpaceX reported a net loss of $4.28 billion in the first quarter of 2026 and has accumulated a deficit of roughly $41.3 billion since its founding. The company is burning massive amounts of cash, $10.1 billion in capital expenditures in Q1 alone, most of it poured into AI.

But Wall Street is betting on Musk’s vision. Two firms initiated coverage with price targets as high as $190 per share, implying a 40% gain from the IPO price.

Elon Musk trillionaire status is no longer a prediction. It is history. The SpaceX IPO record didn’t just break a Wall Street milestone; it rewrote the very definition of wealth. For a man who once slept on a factory floor to keep Tesla alive, this is the ultimate vindication. The question now is not whether he stays the richest. It’s whether anyone will ever catch him.
