Eiza Gonzalez is standing firmly by her man.

The Baby Driver actress has shared a heartfelt message of support for her boyfriend, tennis star Grigor Dimitrov, after he was forced to retire injured during his Wimbledon fourth-round clash — despite leading world number one Jannik Sinner by two sets.

Dimitrov, 33, was in commanding form and looked set for a career-defining win on Monday (July 7), when disaster struck. A right pectoral injury while hitting a shot left him writhing in pain on the grass. Though he briefly received off-court treatment, he ultimately returned only to retire in tears, devastating fans and fellow players alike.

“You’re a Winner” – Eiza’s Emotional Tribute

Watching from afar, Gonzalez, 35, took to Instagram Stories to shower Dimitrov with love and admiration.

“Love of my life. I couldn’t be more proud of you. You are BEYOND outstanding. This is just a moment that will pass and will make you even stronger. But watching you today alongside the world was a reminder of who YOU are. You’re a winner. We all saw it. And you’ll do it again. I love you @grigordimitrov.”

In response to a post from Wimbledon’s official account, which read: “A sight we never want to see. Grigor Dimitrov is forced to retire while leading two sets to love,” Eiza commented:

“A WINNER. He will build an even better story. Stronger inside and out.”

Sympathy From Sinner and the Wimbledon Crowd

Even Jannik Sinner, Dimitrov’s opponent and the current world number one, was visibly affected by the abrupt end to what was shaping up to be a classic.

“I don’t know what to say. He is an incredible player and we all saw this today,” Sinner said in his on-court interview. “He has been so unlucky in the past couple of years. He’s a good friend of mine. If there was a chance for him to be in the next round, he would deserve it. I hope he has a speedy recovery.”

This marks the fifth consecutive Grand Slam tournament in which Dimitrov has had to retire due to injury — a frustrating pattern for a player once seen as one of the most gifted talents on the tour.

But with Gonzalez’s unwavering support and the tennis world rooting for him, Dimitrov’s story is far from over. As Eiza said, he’ll do it again.
