Zaire Wade, the eldest son of NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade, was arrested on felony domestic violence charges in Burbank, California, early Sunday morning.
The 24-year-old was booked on three charges: felony domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment. An emergency protective order has been issued.
Burbank police were called to a home around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, after receiving a 911 call about a woman screaming. When officers arrived, they found Zaire Wade and a woman with lacerations on her face and body. A handgun was also recovered from the home. Despite her injuries, the woman was not transported to a hospital. Zaire was arrested and booked on the three felony charges.
Zaire was released later that day after posting a $50,000 bond. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for consideration of formal charges. Neither Zaire nor any member of the Wade family has publicly commented on the arrest.
Zaire played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California, where he received several scholarship offers. He turned down those offers to pursue a professional career, spending one season with the Salt Lake City Stars of the G League and playing overseas in South Africa and Macau.
