The sands of Arrakis are shifting once again—this time with some fresh faces.
Just one day after rumors swirled online, Deadline has officially confirmed the casting of Leto II and Ghanima Atreides for the much-anticipated Dune: Part Three. And the names? A major surprise.
Meet the Next Generation of House Atreides
Joining the cast of the Denis Villeneuve-directed saga are:
• Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, son of actor Jason Momoa, as Leto II Atreides
• Ida Brooke, best known for her role in Silo, as Ghanima Atreides
The twin children of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya) play a crucial role in the closing chapters of Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah, which the third film will adapt. While the twins emerge later in the book, Deadline’s report doesn’t specify exactly how Villeneuve plans to bring them into the storyline.
Returning Cast & New Faces
While Warner Bros. has yet to drop an official full cast list, the franchise’s biggest stars are expected to return:
• Timothée Chalamet (Paul Atreides)
• Zendaya (Chani)
• Florence Pugh (Princess Irulan)
• Jason Momoa (possibly in flashbacks or dream sequences as Duncan Idaho)
One of the biggest new additions? Robert Pattinson, reportedly cast as Scytale, a shapeshifting Face Dancer and key antagonist in Dune Messiah.
The End of the Dune Saga?
Director Denis Villeneuve has previously stated that Dune 3—his adaptation of Messiah—is likely the final chapter in his vision of the franchise. While fans would love to see adaptations of later novels like Children of Dune or God Emperor of Dune, Villeneuve has hinted that he plans to end the saga with Paul’s story arc.
A Legacy Continued
The casting of Nakoa-Wolf Momoa adds a poetic layer to the franchise. His father, Jason Momoa, played the beloved Duncan Idaho in Dune and Dune: Part Two. Now, Nakoa-Wolf is stepping into his own spotlight—taking on one of the most complex and pivotal characters in the Dune universe.
