Donald Trump Threatens to Revoke Rosie O’Donnell’s U.S. Citizenship in Explosive New Feud Twist

Former President Donald Trump has reignited his long-standing feud with Rosie O’Donnell, threatening to revoke her U.S. citizenship following her criticism of his handling of the devastating Texas floods that have left over 120 people dead.

The 78-year-old Trump made the inflammatory remarks on Truth Social on Saturday, July 12, calling O’Donnell a “threat to humanity” and suggesting she should stay in Ireland, where she now resides.

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” Trump wrote. “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her.”

Constitutionally Impossible — But Politically Explosive

Despite the bluster, Trump’s threat holds no legal weight. U.S. citizenship cannot be revoked as a form of punishment for speech — a principle protected under the First and Fourteenth Amendments. Still, the statement ignited intense backlash online, with critics calling it authoritarian and un-American.

O’Donnell, 63, swiftly fired back with a fiery Instagram post, labeling Trump a “criminal con man” and “dangerous old soulless man with dementia.

“This is why I moved to Ireland — he is a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy, compassion, and basic humanity,” she wrote. “I stand in direct opposition to all he represents — so do millions of others.”

She also mocked Trump’s threat by pointing out the absurdity of deporting Americans who oppose his politics.

A Feud That’s Spanned Two Decades

The bitter animosity between Trump and O’Donnell dates back to the mid-2000s, when she criticized him during her time on The View, calling him out for misogyny and unethical business practices. Trump responded by launching repeated personal attacks, labeling her “fat,” “disgusting,” and “a loser” — attacks he has never walked back.

Their rivalry has endured through Trump’s presidency and beyond, with O’Donnell continuing to be one of his most vocal celebrity critics.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, O’Donnell reflected on the weight of being singled out by a U.S. President.

“What are the chances that the one guy I exposed for being a misogynist and sexist pig on The View would become President… and still be hung up on the fact that I told the truth about him?”

She added: “It’s really not something I’d wish on anybody.”

A Personal Move for Political Reasons

O’Donnell moved to Ireland earlier this year, citing safety, political anxiety, and a desire for peace as motivating factors. She relocated with her 12-year-old daughter, Clay, and has said publicly that she has “no regrets.”

Meanwhile, Trump — now in his second term — continues to battle both domestic and international criticism for his administration’s handling of disasters and frequent online attacks on public figures.

With the 2026 midterms on the horizon and tensions already running high, this latest episode signals that Trump’s penchant for personal vendettas is far from over — and that Rosie O’Donnell is still firmly in his crosshairs.
