Disney’s live-action adaptation of Tangled is officially coming to theaters in 2028. The film, which is currently in production, will bring the beloved 2010 animated classic to life under the direction of Michael Gracey, best known for The Greatest Showman.
Teagan Croft (Titans) has been cast in the lead role of Rapunzel, the spirited princess with magical hair, while Milo Manheim (Zombies) will portray the charming outlaw Flynn Rider. Kathryn Hahn joins the cast as the villainous Mother Gothel, the duplicitous figure who keeps Rapunzel imprisoned in her tower to maintain her own youth. Diego Luna (Andor) has also been added to the ensemble in a role created specifically for the live-action version.
The screenplay was written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge, Thor: Love and Thunder), with Kristin Burr producing. Like the original animated film, the live-action remake will feature significant musical elements. The original Tangled grossed over $591 million worldwide and received an Academy Award nomination for its song “I See the Light”.
