Ahead of his federal sex trafficking trial, Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly seeking a Black woman attorney to join his defense team. This move comes after the exit of his previous attorney, Anthony Ricco, and as his legal team prepares for a high-profile case.
According to TMZ, sources close to Diddy’s legal team indicate that the search is not merely for appearances but for an attorney with the necessary legal expertise to take on such a significant case. His current lead attorneys, Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, are both white, prompting the search for a Black woman lawyer to diversify the team and possibly reinforce a defense strategy that claims Diddy is being unfairly targeted due to his status as a wealthy, successful Black man.
Jury selection for the trial is set to begin on May 5, with opening statements expected to follow a week later. Diddy’s legal team is gearing up for what could be a challenging courtroom battle, and this addition to the defense team is seen as a critical step in preparing for the case.
