Disgraced rapper and music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was reportedly taken to Brooklyn Hospitalfrom the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) on Thursday night for an MRI scan. The 54-year-old, who is currently awaiting trial for multiple sex crime charges, was briefly removed from his federal holding cell due to ongoing knee issues.
Why Was Diddy Taken to the Hospital?
Initially, rumors swirled that Diddy had been involved in a prison brawl or suffered from a serious medical emergency. However, sources later confirmed that the Revolt TV founder was experiencing discomfort in his knee, an issue that dates back to his participation in the New York Marathon.
Diddy’s History of Knee Problems
This isn’t the first time Diddy has dealt with knee issues. In 2017, he underwent three knee surgerieswithin a year, documenting his recovery on Instagram before later wiping his social media clean. At the time, he expressed gratitude for his doctors, writing:
“They’d said I’d never run again. I said the devil is a liar. 3 surgeries in one year! Third time’s the charm!!!”
Security Concerns Over Hospital Transfer
Given Diddy’s high-profile status and the nature of his charges, prison officials reportedly planned his late-night hospital transfer in advance to avoid security risks. A law enforcement source told the New York Post that authorities were notified ahead of time to prevent chaos among inmates or any escape attempts.
Despite his brief hospitalization, Diddy was returned to MDC Brooklyn the same night and remains in federal custody. His trial is set to begin on May 5.
