New details have emerged in Rick Ross’s domestic battery arrest, and his lawyers are speaking out. According to law enforcement sources, the arrest came after an ex-girlfriend called police on Tuesday and said he had been violent with her. She told police the alleged incident happened on August 28, accusing him of waking her in a jealous rage over a photo she was tagged in on social media before things turned physical. She alleged he questioned her about lying to him and slapped her, then struck her again after she denied his accusation that she was involved with someone else.
The Rick Ross arrest details include more serious claims. Sources say the woman alleged he “struck her in the chest several times, choked her to the point where she could not breathe, grabbed her by her ponytail and slammed her against a wall.” She provided police with photos of her alleged injuries, and Ross voluntarily surrendered to police early Thursday.
His lawyers, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein, said the rapper is being “wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear.” They noted that she “did not even file a police report until a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place.” They added, “Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges. He respectfully requests that his friends, fans and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course.” Ross is scheduled to be arraigned on October 22.
