Nigerian music superstar Davido has playfully addressed rumors claiming he received a staggering $10 million (approximately ₦17 billion) to perform at the luxurious royal wedding of Indian media mogul Alkesh Thavrani and his bride, Sheetal Mazda, in Udaipur, India.
The rumor, which went viral online, sparked widespread reactions, but Davido quickly took to his Instagram story to set the record straight — with a touch of humor. Tagging the groom, he jokingly wrote:
“@AlkeshThavrani, where’s my balance?”
Adding to the banter, the Unavailable hitmaker teased his fans further, saying:
“@AlkeshThavrani received. 2025 go hear am. I need Indian passport.”
While Davido didn’t confirm the exact amount he was paid, his playful posts hinted that the rumored $10 million might have been exaggerated. He assured fans, however, that his performance fees were fully paid.
This high-profile wedding has drawn global attention due to its grandeur and star-studded guest list, with Davido’s involvement setting a new benchmark for Nigerian artists performing internationally.
Interestingly, earlier this year, Nigerian artist Rema made headlines for earning $3 million to perform his smash hit Calm Down at another opulent Indian wedding — proving Nigerian stars continue to dominate the global stage.
Davido’s humor and the monumental scale of the event have only amplified excitement about his performance, leaving fans eager for more surprises from the Afrobeat legend.
