Daredevil: Born Again is officially ending with its upcoming third season. Marvel Studios has decided that Season 3 will serve as the final chapter of the Disney+ revival series, and showrunner Dario Scardapane has quietly exited the project during post-production after his contract was not renewed. The decision came roughly two months after Season 3 wrapped principal photography, with the series now in the final stages of post-production.
The Daredevil Born Again final season will feature Charlie Cox returning as Matt Murdock alongside Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. The season is also set to reunite the Netflix-era Defenders cast, with Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Iron Fist, plus Elodie Yung back as Elektra. Season 2 ended with Matt in jail and his identity exposed, setting up what was originally planned as a cliffhanger. According to reports, Marvel is planning to reshoot the ending so it works as a proper series finale rather than leaving the story unresolved.
The show’s journey has been tumultuous from the start. Originally greenlit in 2022 as an 18-episode project, production was halted by the 2023 Hollywood strikes, leading to a complete creative reset. Marvel brought in Scardapane as showrunner, and the original order was split into two seasons. Despite the upheaval, the revival earned strong reviews, with one critic calling it “the best live-action project Marvel Studios has made so far”. Season 3 is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2027.
